With the DC2454-110 ISO, Elec-Con introduced a galvanically isolated, passively cooled DC/DC converter that increases the standard supply level of automation technology to 54 V. Other output voltages are selectable. The converter is designed for 110 W and can be used up to +55 °C without connection to cooling systems and without derating.
Both the classic network cables (PoE) and SPE (PoDL) allow consumers up to a maximum of 90 watts to be supplied via the network connection. However, this additional supply of peripheral components and decentralized control cabinets pushes some industrial PCs to their performance limits. Accordingly, Elec-Con is now introducing the DC2454-110 ISO, a galvanically isolated boost converter that provides up to 110 W. The standard output voltage is 54 V DC, but can be adapted to customer requirements in a range of 48…75 V. This makes the converter suitable for use with SPE supplies in accordance with IEEE 802.3bu for classes 8 and 9, as well as for classes 10…15 according to 802.3cg. The device is also suitable for PoE supplies in accordance with 802.3af, 802.3at and 802.3bt.
The input voltage is nominally 24 V. The wide-range input of the converter can easily handle all voltage levels between 18 and 32 V and provides a regulated and stabilized power supply with low residual ripple at the output. The isolation voltage is 1.5 kV. The converter is protected against overload and short circuits; as well as against overtemperature.
The DC2454-110 ISO can optionally be equipped with an enable input. Thanks to the galvanic isolation, it is easy to connect several devices in parallel to increase performance. Suitable filters and customer-specific connection cables round off Elec-Con’s range of products.
